Aunt May and Aunt Florence

My Aunt May on the right with husband and my aunt Florence on the left. It looks like Florence's husband might have peed himself.

Squirrel's Nest

A squirrel's nest made from green leaves by a squirrel. They give birth in them, sleep and eat in them and use them to shelter in during storms. I have only seen one or two on the ground in my lifetime. A very strong storm with high winds will often dislodge a poorly constructed nest. The builder knows how to build one and where to place each stick it cuts using its powerful jaws and sharp teeth. The ones that are blown out of the trees were often built by younger squirrels just learning how to build nests.

Stone Carving and Calligraphy

That is me at a library in a college in Massachusetts where we had gone to give lectures on our recognition as leaders in our respective trades: mine in lettering and calligraphy and his in stone carving. It was quite an event and lots of people attended.

Calligraphy is Fun TV Series' Tapes

Four of my video tapes related to my TV Show, Calligraphy is Fun, by Abraham Lincoln. I did a 13-week television series shown on PBS stations, The Leaning Channel and on local stations who could choose my tapes and show them on their station. As a result I became the best known scribe and calligrapher in the world and only Alfred Fairbanks from London, who was a friend of mine, was more widely known. It was a whole new learning experience for me because until then I had only appeared on television shows as a calligrapher. Now I was hosting my own program.

Calligraphy is Fun Book

This is one of four books I wrote for my television show, Calligraphy is Fun. My show was shown on Public Television Stations and on The Learning Channel and Discovery channels around the world. As a result of the 13-week shows (each show lasted 30 minutes) I became know around the world as a scribe and calligrapher. I was asked if I would do the show and write three or four books to be sold during intermission and I said I would. I was given a check for $5,000.00 up front with the promise of more checks in the future from income generated by the sale of the books on TV. Thai is a whole other story.

Calligraphy is Fun Books

My Television Series book in full color I wrote for my handwriting and calligraphy show hosted by Parker Pen, Ltd and a company from Connecticut whose name I cannot release. Many companies approved and paid for parts of the series--from gold leaf companies to Grumbacher, an English company whose watercolors are known worldwide. Most people have no idea that I did a television series or that I actually wrote 4 books (two were booklets  like those use in classrooms) and illustrated them in 13 days. I had to be on TV at West Palm Beach Florida, hawking the books during the shows intermissions.

Lost

Rain on the skylight. Pitter-patter. Not cold enough for snow or ice but nice to hear the rain. Read the story. I used to draw a lot.
